Wellington Cricket Club is proud to support Cricket Shropshire’s latest initiative to diversify and strengthen our pool of match officials. On Sunday, 12th April, an "Introduction to Umpiring" course will be held at Wrekin College—and we want our members to be a part of it.
While participation on the pitch is thriving, there is a clear need for greater representation in support roles like coaching, umpiring, and scoring. Seeing role models who reflect our diverse community is vital for the young players coming through our junior pathway.
Why Attend?
Inclusive Learning: Volunteers from all backgrounds and genders are warmly encouraged to attend, especially those from underrepresented communities.
Cultural Celebration: The date has been chosen to follow Ramadan and Easter and coincides with the eve of Vaisakhi.
Community Connection: To mark these celebrations, a special buffet lunch will be provided featuring a blend of traditional afternoon tea and Asian-inspired nibbles.
Meet the Officials: Umpiring attendees will join forces at lunch with those attending a Scorers DLS/Linear course running on the same day.
