Telford Company Invest In Wellington Ladies Wilson Heat Pumps become the club's first Ladies' Sponsor.

Wellington Cricket Club is delighted to announce that Telford company Wilson Heat Pumps has agreed to become the club’s first ever Ladies Sponsor from 2023.

Female participation has risen steadily at Orleton Park over the last decade and the club now has over 50 playing members across all ages. In 2022, Cricket Shropshire named Wellington as their Girls Club of the Year in recognition of the hard work that has been put in to increase its offering at junior level.

Business owners Gareth and Rachel Mullard Wilson, of Wilson Heat Pumps, are huge cricket fans and were keen to do something to support the club as it looks to develop its burgeoning junior girls section into a professionally run Ladies’ team.

Gareth explained his motivation for the new sponsorship: “Our daughter has played at Wellington for several years and benefitted from the coaching and opportunities provided at the club. We wanted to give something back.

“Our daughter and her friends are now moving into the Ladies’ section and looking to develop their games even further. We felt there was an opportunity to invest in this area to build up the prestige of the female game and to narrow the gap with the more established male teams.”

As the club’s first Ladies’ Sponsor, Wilson Heat Pumps have made a generous contribution to the club to be spent on improvements to its facilities and equipment. On top of this, they have also funded the purchase of brand new training and playing kit, complete with their company logo.

David Ross, Club Secretary, said: “We would like to thank Wilson Heat Pumps for their generous sponsorship. We hope that with their support Ladies’ Cricket at Wellington can be taken on to the next level.”
