Wrekin Eatin’ Festival: Visitor Information

On Sunday 7th July, Wellington Cricket Club will be presenting the Wrekin Eatin’ Festival – a family-oriented day of street food, entertainment and fun times. You can find out more about what we have planned, and order your tickets, here.

For those who are attending, we would like to share the following information to ensure that the day runs as smoothly as possible.

1. If you’re local, please walk to the event where possible.

We would ask that visitors arrive to this event on foot if you can. This will be the quickest way in and out and will allow everyone in your party to enjoy a nice relaxed car-free day.

2. Get a friend to drop you off to avoid the need to park.

Getting dropped off nearby and walking down to the site is a good option for those with kids or limited mobility. And it means mom and dad can have a drink if they want one. Dad can even drop the family off and then park safely in Wellington.

3. Park in Wellington and walk down Haygate Road.

There is plentiful free parking in Wellington town centre from where you can reach the site via Haygate Road (A to B on the map below). The car parks with the biggest capcity are the Leisure Centre (TF1 1LX), the Medical Practice (TF1 1PZ), Tan Bank (TF1 1HJ), and the Railway Station (TF1 1BY). Local roads should not be used for parking. Please do not attempt to park in the red area on the map below.

4. Limited parking at Wellington Cricket Club.

We do have a limited number of parking spaces available on site for those who can’t use one of the above methods to reach us. These will be on a first come first served basis and there will be a £3 charge per vehicle. There will also be blue badge parking available for those who need it.

Please, under no circumstances, park on neighbouring streets.

Other Guest Information

Chairs and Blankets: You are welcome to bring your own fold-away camping chairs and blankets so you can spread out in comfort.

Suncream: Let’s be positive! Pack your suncream as there won’t be much shade on the day.

Doggies: They are warmly welcomed at the event. But please, keep them on a lead and dispose of any waste appropriately.

Money: Our vendors do not all accept card payments so it best to arrive with a mixture of cash and card. There will be no cash point on site. The nearest options to the club are Red Lion Services, Holyhead Road, and Tesco Express, Haygate Road.

Prohibited Items: You are not permitted to bring alcohol on to site – along with other prohibited items, such any glass or offensive weapons. There will be a bag search at entry to this event – so just pack the essentials.

Behaviour: We reserve the right to ask anyone whose behaviour threatens the safety and enjoyment of the event to leave.

This event is staffed and run by volunteers from Wellington Cricket Club in order to raise funds to support community sport. We would ask you to bear this in mind on the day – and please also show respect to our neighbours in the area when arriving and leaving.

Thank you and we hope you have a great day!
