Can You Help Coach, Support Or Officiate Cricket This Summer? We are looking for new coaches, umpires and scorers this year - would you be interested?

With the holidays behind us, we are now turning our attention to the new season. We are looking for additional support with delivering our cricket at Orleton Park this summer and we would be interested in talking to any members willing to give up their time.

Of course, we know that many members already contribute in various ways, but there may be others who are interested in getting more involved.

For example, you may be new to the club, you may now have more time on your hands to help volunteer, or you may be a young member looking to boost your CV with some voluntary work.

For 2023, we are looking for new volunteers in the four key areas listed below. Do any of these sound like roles you would be willing to take on this summer?

We are keen to find more coaches and assistant coaches as our junior section continues to expand and we endeavour to field more teams. Training is available for those looking to get involved in coaching and this will be sponsored by the club if you commit to volunteer. No newcomer will be placed in a position they do not feel comfortable with and we typically pair up newer coaches with more experienced ones.

Junior Admins

The Junior Section also relies on the efforts of volunteers behind the scenes who we call ‘admins’. They work alongside the coaches to arrange fixtures and communicate with parents about training and matches. We are looking for admin help this year for the U10/U10 Boys groups, the U13 Panthers, and the All Stars programme. The admin roles are well suited to parents of children in that age group – but we’d be happy to speak to any interested parties.

We are always after new umpires for senior cricket and offer matchday expenses of £25 a game to those who volunteer their time on Saturdays or Sundays. Again, the club will place you on courses to brush up your knowledge and get you qualified if necessary.

Similarly, scorers are always in demand at the club and receive £20 matchday expenses for scoring matches on Saturdays and Sundays. There is no age limit and many scorers are of school age, looking to grow their knowledge of the game and practice their numeracy. Could you or your child be interested?

If anyone thinks they might be interested in helping in any of the above capacities, please contact David Ross on or call 07545348068. He will be able to put you in touch with the right people at the club to take it further.
