Ladies and girls cricket has been growing at Wellington CC over recent years and we have a detailed action plan in place to continue to develop this over the next few years.

The Ladies play in the Shropshire Active Women’s Hardball League and enjoyed a terrific 2019 season as the team won the Shropshire Hardball League, having been runners up in the 2018 season.

During the winter, the ladies play in a Hardball Winter League which is held at Wrekin College and also the Shropshire Cricket Board (SCB) Elite/Aspiring Indoor League held at Sundorne Games Hall.

In 2020, the ladies competed in a new playing offer from the SCB in the form of the Strategic Leisure Shropshire Women’s HUNDRED competition. Our ladies were part of the Iron Maidens regional team.

As well as a hardball side, the ladies also take part in softball cricket. Various festivals take place across the County on Sundays throughout the season which are a great way for ladies to become involved in the game. No experience or equipment is necessary and it’s a great introduction to the game. Softball Festivals are well known as “Prosecco Cricket” and are a fun way to meet like-minded ladies whilst playing cricket in a simplified format. We are also looking at becoming involved in a softball league.

The Club are committed to continue developing the ladies side and we are keen for new members to join our ranks.

The Club has invested in new cubicle-based changing facilities which are better suited to the needs of our female members.
