Sam Topper 18 (29)

Tom Ellis 4-19 (6)
Sam Bloor 3-12 (7.2) HAT-TRICK
Wellington nerves were jangling on Saturday as they made hard work of a small victory target in their league opener against Worfield at Orleton Park.
Needing just 77 to secure a first-day win, captain Wendell Wagner and his side were made to sweat as they lost wickets repeatedly with the target tantalisingly close. Openers Sam Topper (18) and Tom Masters (8) set the match up with an opening stand of 33 before wickets began to tumble. At 73-8 it looked like the improbable might actually happen, before Tom Ellis and Ben Byram got the last handful of runs required.
Despite the nervous conclusion, Wellington will look back on a successful first day after Worfield won the toss and elected to bat. Tom Ellis hit the ground running with the new ball, collecting 4-19 as the visitors slipped to 31-5. Worfield then rallied as Ben Hudson and Ryan Quiney dug in to move the score past sixty, before Sam Bloor exploded into life, wrapping the innings up with a hat-trick (3-12).
