The 4th XI made the short hop to face Allscott II where they lost by four wickets. The visitors were inserted after having lost the toss and found themselves in a spot of bother at 30-3. However, the partnership between Duncan Taylor (67) and young keeper Freddie Timmis (36*) recovered the situation, setting the hosts 138 for victory in 40 overs. Wellington did not make the bowling inroads they would have liked and Richard Benting’s 60 off 53 took the game away from them. Late wickets from Hamza Bhatti (2-20) and Faheem Chohan (2-29) was a case of too little to late for Wellington.
