The 3rd XI hosted Wem II at Orleton Park and put on a great showing with the bat. Alex Brasenell (44) and Elliot Byram (25) set up a big score for their side with a solid opening stand, before father-and-son combo Steve (51*) and Matt Pitchford (53) hammered home the advantage. Wellington, having posted 221-4 in 40 overs, were strong favourites at the break. Tom Anderson’s fantastic spell of 5-7 in six overs put the result beyond any doubt as the 3rds moved up to second in their division. Hamza Bhatti also took two wickets on a great day for his side.
