Wellington II’s were made to pay for failing to log a competitive total against Shifnal reserves at Orleton Park. The opponents’ bowlers surrendered very little all day against Alex Taylor’s side, who could only amass a meagre total of 111-7 in their 40 overs. Sam Topper (22) and Stewart Black (20) made it out of the teens in a difficult first innings in front of a large home crowd. Shifnal got off to a good start in reply with Ed Beard (70) ultimately steering his side to a very comfortable eight wicket win in the 25th over.
