Wellington had a shorter than expected afternoon when they travelled down the A5 to face Shelton. Batting first, the hosts were soon in real trouble as openers Tom Ellis (4-22) and Steve Brooks (2-19) made light work of the top-order. Dan Lloyd (3-2) was on hand to mop up the tail as the first innings went all Wellington’s way. After the break, a simple chase suddenly began to look far from a done-thing as the visitors slipped to 9-3. Sam Griffiths (2-15) removed both openers. However, captain Wendell Wagner (32*) and youngster Matt Lamb (18*) proved cool heads in the circumstances and navigated their side to a seven wicket win.
