Wellington stole a dramatic last-over victory over Sentinel in front of a large crowd at a scorching Orleton Park. Captain for the day Daniel Lloyd was the hero for the home side, delivering the final wicket with the Shrewsbury side still requiring five runs off three balls. However, the victory owed much to a superb individual performance from Mat Batkin. The hard-hitting opener had smashed an impressive 72 off just 54 balls earlier in the day to get his side off to the best possible start. Youngster Will Lewin marshalled the later stages, finishing with 54 not out, whilst Sam Bloor added a quick 28 to propel the hosts to 208-7 in their 40 overs. Steve Gray (53) gave the visiting side a solid base in the run-chase but as his team looked to accelerate the wickets began to tumble. Craig Heath (51*) was looking dangerous, but he slowly began to run out of partners with Batkin (4-25) the chief beneficiary. In a grandstand finish, two run-outs and Lloyd’s telling intervention capped a great match and a third consecutive win for Wellington.
