Wellington CC is a not-for-profit organisation and relies on the support of the membership to keep the Club ticking over. There are many ways you can become involved as a volunteer, some of which are highlighted below. If you feel you can help in any way, please get in touch!
Event Organisation and Assistance
Wellington CC run a wide range of events across the year, which all require lots of behind the scenes work. Big events like the Big Blast! Fireworks event, Ladies Day and Vice President’s Day all require a committee of members to organise and put on. Our fundraising and social committee would welcome any volunteers to help with ideas and putting on events. For more information, please contact David Ross on 07545 348068 or email secretary@wellingtoncc.
Fundraising and Social
The Club are actively seeking a volunteer to head up the fundraising and social team for the Club. Fundraising is a vital part of keeping the Club afloat. If you think you could help in this way, please contact David Ross on 07545 348068 or email secretary@wellingtoncc.
Junior Coaches and Assistants
Are you an ECB qualified coach looking to help the next generation of cricketers? Wellington CC is always on the look out for enthusiastic coaches to help in our junior section. The Club is also keen to recruit assistant coaches who may not be qualified but eager to help support our junior coaches. The Club periodically financially supports coaches in completing the ECB coaching programs to become qualified. All coaches and assistant coaches will need to be DBS checked and qualified coaches also need to hold valid First Aid Certificates. For more information please contact Simon Topper by email at simon.topper@wellingtoncc.co.uk or by phone on 07921 234800.
Ground Staff
Without the dedication of the Club’s ground staff, the pitches would not be in such great condition to play our matches. Ground maintenance is an all year round requirement and doesn’t stop during the close season. The Ground Staff team urgently require more volunteers to help. The ground staff look after both pitches (including the astro-turf strip on the second pitch), as well as the public grass areas, nets etc.
If you can help in any way, please contact David Ross on 07545 348068 or email secretary@wellingtoncc.
Cricket Force
In preparation for the start of the new season the annual Cricket Force event. Cricket Force is national initiative from the ECB to encourage cricket clubs to “get ready” for the new season. The tasks can range from annual maintenance to major improvements. It’s also a great way to catch up with other members you may not have seen over the winter.

Umpires and Scorers
The Club has to provide an umpire and scorer for every match (in the men’s lower league games, we gain extra points for providing these). Umpires particularly in are in short supply so if you are a qualified umpire, we need you! If you are interested in becoming an umpire, courses are run to train umpires so please contact us if you would be interested in qualifying.
Scorers are also required for every match so if you are experienced in scoring, please get in touch.
As an incentive… there is a small remuneration payable to umpires and scorers – and tea is provided!
Bar Staff
The Club requires volunteer bar staff to help run the bar on youth training and game nights. The Club is ideally hoping to have a pool of parents or other volunteers to work as a team to cover the bar on Mondays and Wednesday evenings when youth training and fixtures are taking place.
Would you be interested in supporting the club in this way? Full training will be given. If you might be able to help, please contact Steve Oliver by email at steve.oliver@wellingtoncc.co.uk or by phone on 07831 708771.
