Youth Section Enrolment Evening
|

All Its that time of year again when we start to prepare for the coming season with the hope that there will be plenty of cricket both played and watched from the boundary. Enrolment Night for WCC Youth members is on Friday 12 March at the Club, commencing at 7pm. You will see amongst the attachments below the usual Introductory Letter from the Youth Chairman, set out within it is some useful information, along with some key dates for the summer. WCC Youth Introduction 2010
Please print off, complete and sign the attached membership form and bring it along with either a cheque or cash on the night. In order to reduce club costs I will not have any hard copy forms with me on enrolment night, apart from a small number for players who do not have access to emails. Also this years form is different to previous years and requires the signature of a Parent/Guardian/Carer and the player if she/he is aged 12 or more. WCC Youth Membership 2010
You will also note the Code of Conduct also attached. There is a tear off slip at the bottom of the document which also requires signatures and once completed returned to Nigel Howells at the same time as the membership form. WCC Youth Code of Conduct 2010 A letter from our Ladies Committee is also attached in respect of various activities, some of which are for fund raising. The Club has recently taken delivery of a new bowling machine; funds for the purchase of this came from the Ladies Committee activities last summer such as the BBQs on festival days etc. So please help out or support them again this coming season as they continue to provide vital funds for the benefit of our younger players. Also included is an ECB document on Supervising Children. You should be aware that WCC is an ECB "Clubmark" Club, one benefit of this, is the opportunity for the Club to bid for funds from the ECB, without the accreditation this possibility is lost. In order to gain and retain this prestigious award the Club undergoes an assessment every three years and an annual health check in between, to ensure we are maintaining the requirements of the accreditation. This year we are having to be reassessed, this will involve a lot of work to ensure we can provide the required evidence to prove we have in place the policies and procedures necessary to allow re-accreditation. ECB Supervising Children 2010
You will see from that document that not only do we need to have the Coach/Player ratios right when involved in cricketing activities, we also need to have a set number of "Responsible People" assisting as well, the names of who will need to be recorded week on week as evidence of compliance. So if your son or daughter is training on a Monday and you watch proceedings from the nearby boundary rope you could be one of those "Responsible People" who if required could assist in dealing with an incident, its as simple as that. But we do need to have something formally in place, a pool of names for each age group to cover this requirement would save the same people having to do it every week. Your assistance in ensuring we meet the expectations of the CB is also very much appreciated. Please don't forget that we desperatly need help for the CricketForce weekend at the end of the month. Please contact Matt Gould if you can spare a couple of hours on Saturday 27th and/or Sunday 28th March to help get the Cricket Club facilities ready for the new season.
