Brilliant Edwards Too Hot For Moseley

A superb century from Neil Edwards helped Wellington to an easy win over visitors Moseley to maintain the club’s outside chance of promotion.

Match report by Pete Byram

A superb century from Neil Edwards helped Wellington to an easy win over visitors Moseley to maintain the club’s outside chance of promotion.

Opening the batting he made light of Moseley’s all out total of 169 as Wellington secured victory in just 33 overs.

The former Somerset and Notts left hander was in blistering form. He reached his half century off just 28 deliveries, got to his century in 78 balls and had faced just 100 deliveries when he was dismissed for 129, caught in the deep with just four needed for victory.

Neil, in his first season as pro, hit five towering sixes to go with 15 fours and at this rate could be challenging the 1,000 run mark come the end of the season.

To illustrate his total domination Joe Clarke (18) was the only other Orleton Park batsman to reach double figures as Wellington got home for the loss of five wickets.

It was also a good day for Gagandeep Singh, who proved he is back to full fitness after struggling with a side strain. He took 4-19 from his 12 overs and there were also three wickets apiece for skipper Wendell Wagner and young Dan Lloyd, who turned in another promising performance with 3-50 from 14 overs.

The Firsts now have two away games – Leamington and Barnards Green – before a Bank Holiday home double when the division’s top two, Kenilworth and Dorridge are the visitors.
