Byram's Haul Sees Off Brewood
By David Ross
The 1st XI kept on the heels of the Division One pacemakers with a 24-point haul against visitors Brewood.
It was a pretty straightforward victory after lowly Brewood had elected to bat first. They soon slumped to 7-3 against the new ball attack of Anthony O’Connor and Gagandeep Singh and could easily have lost more against the swinging ball.
But they rallied to 97-3 but the recovery was cut short by veteran spinner Adam Byram, who went for nine off his first three deliveries but finished with 5-23 from 8.2 overs as Brewood were dismissed for 122.
Michael Johnson was the pick of the bats as Wellington got home for the loss of five wickets in just 25 overs for an early drink and another good points haul.
