Rain Cuts Neil's Fine Knock Short
The weather denied the 1st XI the chance to extend their 100% league record for this season at a soggy Orleton Park on Saturday.
Sent in to bat by visitors Old Hill, Wellington had raced to 121 without lost off just 24.1 overs before the rain finally washed out proceedings for the day.
Good news for the club and prospects for the season was the form of pro Neil Edwards, who was unbeaten on 74 and looked destined for a huge score before the rain intervened.
Neil was in total control and was in the process of taking the visitors’ attack apart, having already hit three sixes into the car park.
He received good support from Steve Lamb (22 not out) and the pair just managed to snatch a batting point before the deluge.
The five points keep Wellington in second place and full of confidence for the trip to Moseley this weekend.
