Unbeaten Run Continues For The Firsts
The 1st XI made it two league wins out of two and four for the season when they defeated visitors Bromsgrove by two wickets.
New signing Gagandeep Singh led an efficient bowling unit as the visitors were restricted to 160 all out in 44 overs, which was something of an improvement as they had lost seven wickets with less than 100 on the board.
Gangandeep finished with 4-21 from his 10 overs while Neil Edwards chipped in with 3-38 from his 10.
The bowlers were helped by some smart fielding, a neat catch from Sam Lloyd setting the tone and even better one from Anthony O’Connor who took a steepler on the pavilion boundary.
Joe Clarke, fresh from his century the previous week, led the home reply with a fine 77 but only two other batsmen, Steve Lamb (22) and Gagandeep (12) reached double figures as Wellington limped over the line with two wickets and 11 overs to spare.
However, it should not have been that close and indeed would not have been but for three very poor umpiring decisions, Neil Edwards, Wendell Wagner and Nick Mitchell all given out caught behind when the bat did not appear to come into play at any stage.
However, it is another 20 points in the bag and next come struggling Old Hill to Orleton Park on Saturday.
