Updated for 2008

From its early years Wellington Cricket Club has always invested in it’s young cricketers. The club has over twenty England and Wales Cricket Board qualified coaches. Youth coaching takes place on Monday nights throughout the season at 6.30pm (coaching starts at 6:45pm).  We are also one of the ECB's "Focus Clubs" in Shropshire.

As well as providing coaching facilities, youth games are organised. Normally on Wednesday nights or Sundays, there are County league matches at under-13 and 16 and County KO cup games at under 12, 14 and 15. The winners of these leagues and cups have the chance of representing the County in National competitions. Wellington teams have performed well in these competitions in the past few years and have gone on to represented Shropshire in the national competitions.

Wellington's youth coaching has produced many players at all age groups who have gone on to represent the county at Schools Cricket. Many of the players involved in Wellington 1st team successes in the Birmingham league started by attending the Youth coaching sessions.

Youth Enrolment takes place on Monday 3rd March 2008 at the pavilion. Whilst enrolling for the Youth coaching sessions can be done at any time during the season, we encourage parents and young cricketers to attend this event to hear about this years programme of activities including indoor pre-season nets, competitive matches (Wellington are increasing the number of teams playing in local leagues for 2008), the coaching Academy and the Summer Camp.

In accordance with ECB guidelines all coaches are CRB checked, have gained a formal coaching qualification and have had the benefit of basic first-aid training as a minimum. You can rest assured that your children are in safe hands at the club.

Fixtures for the 2008 season are to be displayed on the fixtures page when they become available.
