Peter Fletcher

By David Ross

Peter Fletcher, a Life Member of Wellington Cricket Club, has died, aged 84.

A stalwart member of the club for many years, Peter passed away on July 21st.

Among his many contributions to the club in its early days he was regularly seen gang-mowing the outfield. He also put in many hours behind the bar, being bar chairman for a long time.

He was a talented allrounder, bowling left arm fast and also a solid opening bat for both the first and seconds XIs.

Peter also served on the Shropshire County Cricket Club committee, being well known for the large sums he raised organising bat raffles at Minor Counties games.

The funeral is at Emstrey Crematorium on Tuesday, August 15th at 10.45am.
